Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an umbrella term that refers to the application of behavioral science to socially significant behaviors. ABA encompasses a variety of scientifically proven treatment methods to address all types of behaviors. This means that ABA can be used to teach new skills, as well as reduce socially inappropriate behaviors. This can be done through the use of direct therapy with the child or consultation to parents, caregivers, or school personnel. ABA can be used to teach individuals of all levels of functioning, diagnoses, and challenges. Examples of areas addressed through the use of ABA include social, play, language, academics, self-care, and self-direction. Michelle Ragozzine & Associates offers the following ABA services:
Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT)
PRT is an ABA intervention that is implemented in the child's natural environment and is proven to be effective in teaching children on the autism spectrum. PRT targets pivotal areas of development including motivation, responsivity to multiple cues, social initiations, and self-management. Doing so creates widespread improvements in communication, social, and behavioral domains. The majority of intervention provided by Michelle Ragozzine & Associates is based on PRT, however each child's program is individualized according to needs and learning profiles. School Shadows
ABA staff can be provided in the school setting to assist in implementation of your child's IEP and reduction of behaviors at school. Staff will work on teaching skills identified in your child's IEP in the mainstream classroom setting, as well as 1:1. Additionally, they will implement any behavior plan designed to reduce behaviors and increase learning. Michelle Ragozzine & Associates can work in public as well as private school settings.
Play Date Facilitation
ABA staff can facilitate play dates with typical peers at your home or in the community. Social and play skill targets are developed based on your child's needs. Behavioral techniques are then used to teach these social and play skills and to assist your child in using these skills when interacting with peers.
