Occupational Therapy Services

Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on developing essential skills for children to thrive in all aspects of their daily lives. This includes strengthening fine motor skills, which involve the precise coordination of small muscles in the hands and fingers. These skills are critical for activities such as writing, drawing, cutting, buttoning, and manipulating objects, ensuring children can perform daily tasks with accuracy and control.

Occupational therapists also address sensory-motor skills, helping children process sensory information and coordinate their movements effectively. By addressing tactile, proprioceptive, and vestibular input, therapists can improve a child's coordination, balance, attention, and emotional regulation, which are vital for active participation in various activities.

Another key area is visual-motor skills, which involve coordinating a child's eyes and body, particularly their hands. These skills are fundamental for tasks like catching, copying, reading, and writing. Challenges in visual-motor development can impact academic performance, spatial awareness, and everyday activities that require precise hand-eye coordination.

By integrating these interconnected skill sets—fine motor, sensory-motor, and visual-motor—pediatric occupational therapy provides children with the foundational abilities needed for optimal functioning and socialization. The ultimate goal is to empower children to succeed in academic settings, play environments, and social interactions, thereby fostering their overall well-being, promoting a sense of accomplishment, and encouraging self-reliance.

Here at MR&A we offer Occupational Therapy evaluations as well as on-going therapy provided in a 1:1 or small group setting. We also offer co-treats with our ABA staff on site and will collaborate and co-treat with outside providers as well.
